Two years have gone by, and it is still difficult for us Jews to fully comprehend the atrocities Hamas subjected us to. Slaughter, murder, rape, and houses smeared with blood took us 85 years back to the Holocaust when we stood defenseless in the queue at the crematoria. We had promised ourselves that this should never happen again. Then came the October massacre and showed in all its gruesome detail that Jews can easily be killed even though they possess one of the world’s best military defenses. The pain feels as if it happened today. Now we get a glimpse of hope that Trump’s good relations with some countries in the Middle East can ensure that the 48 hostages still in the Hamas tunnels will be freed. 28 of them have already been murdered by the terrorists and 20 are probably still alive, but time is running out for us all.
Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism yesterday launched the website “The October 7th Files—Organized Evil,” which presents the world with original documents, maps, and operational orders from Hamas, illustrating how one of the most barbaric acts in human history was planned and executed.
Last week we saw how a terrorist named Jihad killed Jews in Manchester during the Yom Kippur prayer outside the synagogue. The victims have probably never been to Israel and have nothing to do with the war in Gaza. But they were killed by a jihadist whom his parents (the father is a doctor!) had named Jihad—just because they were Jews. From childhood, he was earmarked to sacrifice his life for jihad. He is not alone. Some walk around in Western streets with names like Jihad (holy Islamic warrior), Shahid, Shahida (martyr), and several such names that trap them in a deadly Islamist ideology. We do not see anyone in the West calling their children Hitler or Himmler, but people are still so politically correct that no one dares to say that Islamist hate-speech names should have been banned here. People who are indoctrinated to blind hatred where jihad and death are more important than life, live among us physically, but their mentality belongs to places where dark regimes rule.
Finally, about 500 protesters were arrested in London this week after they rejoiced that two Jews had been murdered and four seriously injured and shouted “Sieg Heil” wildly in the streets. We saw a similar spontaneous reaction in Manchester right after the terrorist act. Don’t people see that there is no difference between Hamas’ terrorists and these violent protesters other than the availability of weapons? How many Jews will they be allowed to murder here in Europe before a stop can be put to the politically correct madness?
How long will it take before the West understands that the hordes occupying the streets are part of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood that Qatar finances and promotes? In the Middle East, they know how dangerous this Islamist ideology is and have banned it. But in the West, we are still both naive and ignorant. Like when a former Norwegian foreign minister stated that the Muslim Brotherhood was an OK actor, despite the organization’s frightening statement of purpose.
While Israeli hostages are held in Gaza by terrorists of the worst kind, the West is held hostage by Hamas supporters and their left-fascist friends. Attacks on churches and synagogues, on Jews and Christians, whether in Israel or in Sudan, are part of the fight against our common civilization that they want to eradicate. The choice is ours whether we will stand against the madness and say enough is enough, or whether we will line up on the road to the crematoria with the Jews.
The whole world should have stood in solidarity with Israel in the fight against Hamas, which has so far only brought death and misery to both Jews and Arabs. Israel’s constant attempts to make peace with the PLO and Hamas have been naive and will in all probability never succeed. If Trump manages to help Israel destroy Hamas’ military power, there will be a new opportunity for the Arabs in Gaza to live in peace and friendship with the Jews. A world without Hezbollah, Hamas, the PLO, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other terrorist organizations is a world with a better future for us all. As long as terrorists are setting the agenda, whether in the Middle East, London, or other Western countries, we must be in a daily struggle for survival. We are all in danger of becoming victims of the struggle, not just the Jews.
We must treat each other first and foremost with mutual respect. It is about humanity, which is a foreign word for the terrorists and their supporters worldwide. The people of Gaza and Israel deserve to live in safety and prosperity, with the hope that their children will grow up with a future brighter than the past. True peace is a peace rooted in some basic common values, shared humanity, and the belief that everyone in the region can live side by side with respect. This is impossible as long as people are controlled by terrorist organizations and world opinion is led from the stronghold of anti-Semitism, the UN.
Will the West now, while the world’s most powerful man, the President of the United States, finally forces reality on the irrational woke circles, be able to admit defeat and say: sorry, we were wrong?
Trump is not only fighting against Hamas, but also against the West, represented by Great Britain, France, Spain, Portugal, Canada, Australia, the EU, and others who want to isolate or destroy Israel. In these countries, we see no real fight against anti-Semitism, but rather a frightening and incomprehensible passivity. Is this because people have difficulty realizing that dramatic changes are needed, or is it due to the Law of Jante’s inherent envy of Israel and a pinch of Jew-hatred?
The Jews in the West also have problems grasping that it has become dangerous for us to stay here and that perhaps the time has come to flee to Israel before it is too late. From 1933 to 1939, DANGER was written in large letters on the walls. Nevertheless, few chose to save their lives, leave everything behind and go. It is human to hold on to what we know and are used to. I am afraid that Trump’s support for Israel and the Jews can act as a sleeping pillow for us Western Jews. The West’s attempt to isolate Israel from humanity makes Israel safer for us Jews. Safer than anywhere else in the world.
The Feast of Tabernacles, which this year begins on the evening of October 6, is symbolic in the sense that this holy day is the only one where the Bible commands the Jews to be joyful. It would truly be a great joy if the hostages were freed this week.
“And you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns.” Deuteronomy 16:14
Let us pray that Trump’s plan is realized now, so that the families can get their loved ones back, the dead can be buried, and the families can finally mourn their loved ones.
We wish all the Jews a blessed Sukkot holy week and we pray that the hostages will soon be home with their loved ones far from Hamas’ murderous clutches.
